Master of the Academy of General Dentistry

ABOUT THE DENTIST

san marcos dentist dr. bob donnelly

Bob Donnelly, DDS.

A Native Texan, Dr. Bob is not your ordinary dentist. He is a former Marine (if there is such a thing) with a BS in Agriculture Economics from Texas A&M, and DDS from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.  Dr. Bob is one of the most highly trained dentists in the country. He is a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry, and is a graduate of the Las Vegas Institute of Cosmetic Dentistry.  Dr. Bob has been practicing in San Marcos since 1980.

If you enjoy reciting the alphabet you’ll love his credentials: BS, DDS, MAGD. Dr. Bob is also a member of AGD (Academy of General Dentistry), AACD (American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry), ADA (American Dental Association), TDA (Texas Dental Association).   LVI DOC (LVI Preferred Doctor), ALD (Academy of Laser Dentistry), and DOCS (Doctors Organization for Conscious Sedation).   All together that's:
BSDDSMAGDAGDAACDADATDALVIDOCALDDOCS.

On the weekends, Dr. Bob and wife Kathy enjoy spending time with their family surfing, water skiing, wakeboarding and attending Texas A&M football games. Their oldest son Chance, a territory representative with Benco Dental, lives in San Marcos with his wife Margaret and their daughter Kimberly. Their youngest son Jared graduated from Texas A&M University, Class of ’07, with a degree in finance and is currently living in Houston.

*So, what's up with the MAGD (Master of the Academy of General Dentistry)? A lot! All dentists holding a MAGD have completed a structured and rigorous set of requirements including completing 1,600 hours of continuing dental education, of which 400 hours are hands-on courses in 16 disciplines in dentistry. Nationwide there are just over 1,800 dentists who have achieved this prestigious title.  To be a member of the Academy of General Dentistry all doctors must remain current with advances in the profession. They serve as mentors to other dentists and set examples in their respective communities with their hard work, concern and involvement.
